This development consisted of the upcycling of garage sites adjacent to the elevated mainline railway serving Waterloo Station, to provide modern ‘Pocket’ homes.
Working on behalf of Pocket Living, Tullys undertook pre-planning through to construction stage Civil and Structural services. Consisting of 70 units, across two blocks, built up to five storeys, including feature roof terraces, communal spaces and cycle storage. With emphasis upon on-site programme and minimisation of impact on the surrounding communities, early engagement with statutory authorities was essential to agree ‘build over’s’ for drainage services passing below the sites. Key focus was also placed upon the standardisation of designs, utilising Pocket's award winning 38m2 formula which led to the adoption of fully modular construction. Working alongside Vision Modular the buildings were designed with piled foundations and concrete cores, before receiving the rapid installation of two modular units per dwelling which were then wrapped in traditional brick envelopes.
