Lennig House, Croydon

Rooftop Development

Overview

Lennig House is a former 1960s office block, extending up to 10 storeys. This redevelopment created a total of 189 units, including 5 duplex apartments created in a 2-3 storey rooftop extension.

Rooftop Extension

The additional storeys were constructed in a combination of reinforced concrete and light gauge steel framing to ensure robustness but also minimise load increase. Two additional storeys were added over the entire footprint with the third over localised areas. The scheme also included the doubling of the existing basement car parking over two floors with a podium deck over carrying two storey mews housing and forming a private and public external space. The entire building was re-clad replacing the previous exposed heavy profiled concrete, thus allowing upgrading of the thermal properties.
