Tullys provided pre-planning advice to Stanhope and Network Homes, who formed a Joint-Venture to develop the Merrick Place site immediately south of Southall railway station to provide 571 units and 2,400m2 of commercial space. Tullys has now been appointed to take this project through RIBA Stages 4-6.
The scheme consists of four towers rising to 15 -23 storeys. During RIBA Stage 3 the design was developed to incorporate a DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) approach. This aims to limit the amount of on-site activities through prefabrication. The process considers the building elements as subsets which are grouped under different headings: floors, beams, stability and vertical structure, facade and MEP services. Tullys design avoids transfer structures across all four blocks and aims to create a repetitive set of structural elements.
