North Street Quarter, Lewes

Flood Risk Assessment & SuDS

Overview

North Street Quarter is a prime riverside site. Covering 14.5 acres this residential-led, mixed-use development included a new town square, around 400 dwellings and more than 6000m2 of commercial space.

SuDS and Flood Defence

Regeneration of the site presented an exceptional challenge, creating a sustainable, employment-led, mixed-use development, whilst minimising the transport impacts in an area adjacent to the town centre already subjected to considerable peak period congestion. The site is heavily contaminated and adjacent to the River Ouse which has a history of flooding. As well as providing flood risk, flood defence & drainage advice we also worked closely with the Town Council and ESCC in developing innovative highway improvement works within and beyond the site.
