Sunesis Schools, 12 Schools

MMC

Overview

Tullys worked as part of a team to help develop the Sunesis ‘Dewey’ model. A prefabricated system which was developed to provide an efficient footprint ideally suited to restricted sites in urban locations.

Efficient System for Urban Sites

The footprint was built from a number of standard components that were put together in a variety of configurations to fit almost any site. Each component was robustly designed to ensure comfortable internal environments were delivered. Modular schools offer potential benefits over traditionally educational procurement, including: reduced costs over traditional school builds, greater cost certainty, time savings through a reduced design phase and construction programme, and improved quality results from tried and tested construction details and techniques. Thirteen schools, in Southampton, the Isle of Wight, Croydon, Doncaster and Cranfield have been constructed. Tullys were also involved in the production of Flood Risk Assessments.
