Wheatstone House is a 9 storey mixed use scheme consisting of 95 residential units, 464m2 of commercial space along with basement parking for 60 vehicles. With a first floor podium providing amenity space for residents.
Formerly the site of a large British Telecom (BT) Exchange building, with its own basement, this constrained site provided Tullys with several challenges to overcome during the design process. These included a retained major BT duct which runs down the side of the building and the South Circular (A205) immediately to the front of the building. Tullys saved construction time and cost, whilst aiding sustainability, by developing the design to allow sections of the existing basement walls to act as temporary retaining structure rather than more expensive and time intensive contiguous piled walls.
